Southminster Parish Council Overview

Southminster Parish Council comprises of nine councillors.

The Council’s affairs are administered from the Council Offices in Queenborough Road by the Parish Clerk.

Council meetings are controlled by the Chairman who also represents the Council at Official functions.

Meetings of the Town Council, which are open to the public, are held once a month in the Council Chamber whilst planning matters are discussed twice a month - details of all forthcoming meetings can be seen displayed on the Parish Council website.

Members of the public are not able to take part in discussions during a Parish Council meeting but they do get an opportunity at every Parish Council meeting to ask questions of Members of the Town Council and the Town Clerk.

While the parish council are not responsible for large things like Highways they have many responsibilities that affect all of the residents.

They maintain the excellent facilities at King George V Playing Field which are the envy of any comparable council. Many other functions include emergency planning, car parking, allotments, some street lighting, a review of planning applications and most importantly effective liason with many other public and private organisations.
